Known internally as the type 932, the Alfa Romeo 156 is an elite compact executive car made by Italians Alfa Romeo. It received its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the year 1999. It is intended to be a replacement for the 155 model. Alfa Romeo 156 models were made at the Fiat Group Factory in the town of Pomigliano d’Arco in Italy. It was also made at the GM facility in Rayong, Thailand for Asian markets. Between the years of 1997 and 2005, around 680,000 models of the Alfa Romeo 156 were produced. This made it a massive international success for the Alfa Romeo firm.

The Alfa Romeo 156 was designed by Walter de Silva at the Alfa Centro Stile. With its high curved flanks, hidden rear door handles, sweeping profile, and retro front door handles, the Alfa Romeo 156 is widely considered to be one of the best looking cars in its class.

The Alfa Romeo 156 was initially developed as a front wheel drive car that boasted a double wishbone front suspension as well as independent multi link rear suspension. The floor pan of the car is nearly identical to the 146, but it is modified slightly in order to accept a new suspension design.
