Alfa Romeo first manufactured the GT sports car in the year 2004. It had been introduced the previous year at the Geneva Motor Show, and went on sale in Italian markets early in 2004.
The GT model is based on the larger 156 model of sedan. Bertone designed its coupé body. The vast majority of mechanicals were taken from the Alfa Romeo 156, with a few influences from the more modern 147 model, including a multilink rear system as well as a double wishbone front suspension setup. The car’s interior is based mostly on the Alfa Romeo 147. It uses a lot of common parts, such as the same dash layout and functions. There are also a lot of similar electrical systems in the GT model. The Configuration range of the Alfa Romeo GT has an Configuration range that boasts a top of the range 3.2 VG petrol, a 2.0 petrol Configuration, and a 1.9 MultiJet turbo diesel.
In terms of stopping power, the Alfa Romeo GT contains 284 mm ventilated discs in the front, as well as 276 mm ventilated discs at the rear of the car. Alfa Romeo GTs come with standard anti lock braking systems.
