Between the years of 1994 and 1996, the German car manufacturer Audi sold a limited edition, high performance station wagon known as the Audi RS2 Avant. The car was the result of a fruitful collaboration between Porsche and Audi. It was built on the 80 Avant platform of Audi. The Audi RS2 Avant was the company’s very first RS vehicle.
It was also their very first high performance Avant. The Audi RS2 Avant utilized the most powerful and developed version of Audi’s turbocharged five cylinder Configuration. It was the best performing station wagon at the time of its release in the 1990s.
While the Audi RS2 never made it anywhere outside of continental Europe, the RS2 has amassed a huge cult following all over the world. It is widely regarded as being the car that established Audi as a leading producer of high performance cars. Even in poorer weather conditions, the Audi RS2 was a high performer thanks to its standard all wheel drive system. Assembly of the Audi RS2 was taken care of at the Porsche plant in the town of Zuffenhausen, Germany. Less than three thousand models of the Audi RS2 were built before the car was discontinued.
