The second automobile in the BMW 5 Series was the BMW E28. It represented a stylistic evolution of the E12. The shape of the car was more box like.

The third generation of the BMW 5 Series won awards for both reliability and safety. The E34 was considered to be one of the nicest cars of its era.

The E39 was one of the most successful automobiles in BMW history. It boasted several different models, including the following:
