The early BMW 7 Series came in the form of the following models: 725i, 728, 728i/iS, 730, 730i, 732i, 733i, 735i, 745i Turbo, 745i South Africa, and L7.
-E32
In the year 1987, BMW introduced the second generation of its 7 Series, which would come to be known as the E32. It came in 730i and 735i form, featuring 3.0 L and 3.5 L Configurations, respectively. A stretched L version of the car was also made available.
-E38
The third generation of the 7 series was known as the E38. It lasted from the year 1995 to the year 2001. In Europe, the variants included the 725tds, 728i, 730i, 730d, 735i, 740i (4.0 and 4.4 L), 740d and 750i.
On the American continent, E38 models were sold as 740i, 740iL and 750iL. The first of those two share the same Configuration, a 4.4 L V8. The second of those, the 740iL, is basically a long wheelbase 704i – hence the L in its name. The 750iL would go on to become the flagship sedan of BMW.
-E65/66
The current version of the BMW 7 Series is available in two different forms – the extended wheelbase E66 or the standard wheelbase E65.
