BMW made its first mass market roadster in the form of the Z3. This was also the very first BMW car to be completely assembled in the United States of America. The BMW Z3 was initially introduced as a vehicle for the 1996 model year, shortly after it was featured in the famous James Bond film Golden Eye. The car ended its production run in the year 2002, at which point very few changes had been made to the vehicle since its inception.

The BMW Z3 was made in Spartanburg, South Carolina in the United States of America. In the year 2002, BMW unveiled the Z3’s replacement vehicle, the Z4, at the Paris Auto Show.

The BMW Z3 was built on the 3 Series’ E36 platform. As a result, the platform is occasionally referred to as the E36/7 (roadster) or E36/8 (coupe). Instead of using the sophisticated multilink suspension of the E36, the E30’s rear semi trailing arm suspension was utilized on this make instead. Initially, the only Configuration available on the automobile was the 1.9 L M44B19. Eventually, however, BMW discovered that its 138 hp was not up to the expectations of the buying public. At that point, the car received an upgrade.
