In the year 2001, the Buick Rendezvous was introduced as a vehicle for the 2002 model year. It is a sports utility vehicle produced by General Motors’ Buick division.
Since most SUVs were only rarely taken off road by their owners, Buick decided to develop a special crossover breed of SUV that would provide all the things that most customers actually need and want from an SUV. These features include cargo carrying capacity, elevated seating height, and less of the negative attributes that frequently plague SUVs, such as poor gas mileage and a propensity to roll over. This idea of a soft road luxury that was car based was proven marketable by such vehicles as the Lexus RX300. It was widely believed that this could be a new market for Buick to exploit, as the SUV market has been incredibly profitable over the years.
The Buick Rendezvous has the distinction of being the very first truck in the Buick line up since the year 1923. It combines all the best attributes of a luxury car, minivan, and sport utility vehicle.
The Buick Rendezvous is produced in Mexico at the General Motors Ramos Arizpe assembly factory. It is produced alongside the Pontiac Aztek.
