The Cadillac marque of General Motors has designed a special compact executive car specifically for Europeans. It is known as the Cadillac BLS. The automobile is based on the Epsilon architecture of General Motors. It is built in Trollhattan, Sweden at the same factory that manufactures the Saab 9-5 and the Saab 9-3.
The car was first sold in the first half of 2006. The following year, a station wagon version of the car was added to the line up. While the car was initially intended for the European market, in the year 2007, the Cadillac BLS was also sold in the Arabian, South Korean, South African, and Mexican markets.
A number of different Configurations are available for the Cadillac BLS. These include two diesel Configurations, a 2.8 L turbocharged V6, and a 1.9 L turbocharged four cylinder Configuration. The following Configurations are available:
- 1.9 L Fiat turbo diesel I4 8v, 120 hp (88 kW)
- 1.9 L Fiat turbo diesel I4 16v, 150 hp (110 kW)
- 2.0 L Ecotec I4, high-output turbo, 210 hp (154 kW)
- 2.8 L HFV6 V6, turbo, 250 hp (184 kW)
It was announced in the year 2005 that a second generation Cadillac BLS would be released in the year 2010.
