The medium sized car known as the Cadillac Catera was in many ways a new version of the Opel Omega MV6. The car was manufactured in the town of Ruesselheim, Germany. It was marketed as an entry level Cadillac in the United States of America, Canada, and other markets around the world.
For the market in the United States of America, the Configurationers at Cadillac made a number safety and luxury modifications. These include a general softening of the car’s suspension, as well as an addition to the car’s original curb weight. Since the Cadillac’s top of the line model the Fleetwood met its demise in the year 1996, Cadillac needed a third sedan. At this point, the Cadillac Catera was brought to Canada and the United States of America. The Cadillac Seville then became the top of the line sedan, with the DeVille being listed as the main middle class sedan by Cadillac.
The Cadillac Catera was unveiled for the 1997 model year. It was then updated with all new wheels, mirrors, nose, an interior trim, revamped HID headlights, side air bags, and stiffer suspension settings for the year 2000. In the beginning of 1999, a sports model of the Cadillac Catera was offered. This car featured a firmer suspension, bigger wheels, and a rear spoiler
