The General Motors luxury brand Cadillac manufactures a full size luxury sport utility vehicle that is known as the Cadillac Escalade. This car was the first major entry in to the SUV market for the Cadillac marque.

The Cadillac Escalade was first introduced on to the market in the year 1999 in response to competition from Japan and Germany, not to mention Ford’s release of the Lincoln Navigator. Ten months after the Escalade project was approved, it went in to production. The Cadillac Escalade is made in the town of Arlington, Texas in the United States of America. Its competitors include the Lexus LX Series, the Lincoln Navigator, the Infiniti QX56, and the Mercedes Benz GL Class.

Initially, the Cadillac Escalade was based on the GMC Yukon Denali. The Escalade was later redesigned for the year 2002 in order to make the vehicle fall in line with the new design theme of Cadillac.

The Cadillac Escalade was not the first Chevrolet based Cadillac. Prior to its release, the Seville and Cimarron were manufactured.

As of today, the Escalade and Escalade EXT are the only Cadillac Vehicles that are made outside of the United States of America – it is currently manufactured in the Mexican town of Silao, while the newer model, the Escalade ESV, is outsourced in Arlington, Texas.
