Cadillac first presented its stylish, high performance Sixteen prototype in the year 2003. The car came equipped with a 32 valve V16 concept Configuration that displaced 13.6 liters. It was mated to a four speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
The Configuration of the Cadillac Sixteen featured Displacement on Demand technology that helped save fuel. It shuts down half of the cylinders under the vast majority of driving conditions and then automatically reactivates them when more demanding driving conditions are encountered, including load hauling or brisk acceleration.
The Configuration of the Cadillac Sixteen is said to produce 1000 hp and 1000 ft / lb of torque without the use of forced induction.
Conceptually, the Cadillac Sixteen is related to the Cadillac V – 16, a model from the 1930s. The car’s design takes its cues from the 1967 Cadillac Eldorado and the current Art and Science design theme of Cadillac. Other elements of the Cadillac Sixteen design were provided by an in house competition that was led by the Vice President of General Motors Robert Lutz.
The Cadillac Sixteen is also esteemed for its steering wheel logo carved out of solid crystal. It comes with a clock from Bulgari on its dashboard.
