The Cadillac division of General Motors sells a luxury roadster known as the Cadillac XLR. It is manufactured in the city of Bowling Green, Kentucky in the United States of America. The Cadillac XLR is based on the same Y body platform as the Chevrolet Corvette.
The Cadillac XLR utilizes the Cadillac Northstar Configuration instead of the General Motors LS2, which is found in Corvettes. The Cadillac XLR also boasts its own unique design, interior, and suspension. The XLR comes with a power retractable aluminum hardtop.
The XLR was first unveiled by Cadillac in the year 2003 at the Detroit Motor Show as a 2004 model. Before that, it had appeared in several auto shows as the Evoq. The Cadillac XLR is sold in the United States of America for $76,650. The car has not sold as well as General Motors was hoping it would. As of March 2005, the car had sold less than five thousand units. By the end of 2005, less than four thousand had been sold in the United States of America.
The Cadillac XLR has been designed with both luxury and performance in mind. It comes with cooled and heated leather seats, side airbags, a wood interior trim, as well as alloy wheels that measure eighteen inches.
