Chevrolet manufactures a sports utility vehicle known as the Chevrolet Avalanche. It comes in the form of a six seat, four door pick up truck. It resembles an SUV somewhat; thus, it is known as a sport utility truck.

The Chevrolet Avalanche is based on the full size SUVs manufactured by General Motors, such as the Chevrolet Suburban. It forms the basis of such upscale models as the Cadillac Escalade EXT. The Avalanche is listed on the website of Chevrolet as both a truck and an SUV.

The truck has an open pickup bed in the back. It can be extended in to the back seat area by simply folding down the cabin’s rear wall and then removing the rear window of the truck. Thanks to the midgate construction of the Chevrolet Avalanche, it allows for two full size sleeping bags to be laid out in the bed when the mid gate has been folded down. This protects occupants of the sleeping bags from rough weather conditions. General Motors markets the Chevrolet Avalanche as an optimal choice for outdoors lovers thanks in part to its four wheel drive option.

The Chevrolet Avalanche boasts four full size hinged doors that can seat up to six, with bench seats, or five, with bucket seats.
