In the year 2003, the Aveo was introduced by General Motors as a Chevrolet vehicle. The Chevrolet Aveo was meant to compete in the United States of America against other similar subcompacts such as the Toyota Yaris, the Nissan Versa, and the Scion XA. The Chevrolet Aveo is made by GM Daewoo.
It is based in the Daewoo Kalos. The Chevrolet Aveo is meant to replace the Daewoo Lanos in Canada and the United States of America. It is also a successor to the Chevrolet Metro, which had been replaced in the year 2000 without receiving a similar replacement.
The Chevrolet Aveo has the advantage of being one of the lowest priced cars in the United States of America. It offers trim levels that vary from very basic to extravagant – particularly for the very small car market. The more extravagant features include glass moon roof, keyless entry, and optional ABS.
The Chevrolet Aveo is based on the T200 platform of General Motors Daewoo. This is a replacement platform for the T100, which had been utilized in Daewoo Lanos. No other vehicles use this platform, so the Chevrolet Aveo is sometimes itself referred to as a T200. A hatchback and sedan version of the car is available in North America.
