General Motors manufactures the Impala for its Chevrolet division. The Chevrolet Impala was designed so as to be a prestige car that the vast majority of American citizens could afford. For most of its history, the Chevrolet Impala has been the best selling automobile in the United States of America.
In the year 1965, it sold over one million units, creating a major record for General Motors. The current version of the car, with a year-to-year United States sales increase rooted in the twenty five percent range, is the seventh best selling vehicle and fourth best selling car. The Chevrolet Impala is also the best selling American nameplate sedan.
The Impala name was first utilized by Corvette in the year 1956 at the General Motors Motorama. The Chevrolet Impala was painted a metallic emerald green and featured a white interior.
The Chevrolet Impala was first introduced in the year 1958 as an up market sporty trim package that was created for Bel Air convertibles and coupes. Six tail lights made the model unique. It was also set apart thanks to its lower trim levels. These classical attributes of its styling would become Chevrolet Impala trademarks. By the year 1966, over thirteen million Impalas had been sold.
