The Chrysler Imperial was first presented in the year 1926. It has been the top range car for much of the history of the Chrysler Company. Models were produced bearing the Chrysler name through the year 1954. The name was revived once again between the years of 1990 and 1993.
In the year 2006, a Chrysler Imperial concept vehicle was presented at the North American International Auto Show. This vehicle utilizes the Chrysler LX platform. It features a wheelbase of 123. The vehicle rides on wheels of twenty two inches, and is meant to convey a six digit image at a much lower price. A long hood and front end are dominated by a strong horizontal grille and an upright radiator. It features a roof line that is pulled towards the rear as a means of enlarging the cabin and eliciting a strong profile. The car also features circular LED tail lights that are reminiscent of Imperials from the 1960s.
In the summer of 2007, it was announced by Chrysler that they would not be continuing production plans of the Chrysler Imperial. This decision is thought to have to do with the car’s inability to meet the United States of America’s new fuel consumption law.
