The French automaker Citroen began manufacturing the C3 supermini in the year 2002. It was meant to replace the Citroen Saxon. Jean Pierre Ploué and Donato Coco designed the Citroen C3.
Ploué was previously known for having designed the Renault Twingo, while Coco has been the head of the Citroen design team since the year 1999. In the year 2007, a mini MPV version of the Citroen C3 will be released as the C3 StreetLounge.
The Citroen C3 can be purchased with 1.1 L, 1.4 L, and 1.6 L petrol Configurations, as well as 1.4 L and 1.6 L Hdi Configurations. All Configuration models come with a five speed manual transmission option, with the exception of the Stop & Start, which may only come with the SensoDrive Citroen gear box. The SX model of the Citroen C3 is the only version that has the option of a four speed fully automatic transmission.
The Citroen C3 received a major face life in the year 2006. Its new front end has a more imposing bumper, as well as wider lower air intake. What is more, the new version features newly designed lights on the rear with crystal colored middle sections.
