The small family automobile known as the Citroen ZX is manufactured by French auto stalwarts Citroen. Citroen produced the car between the years of 1991 and 1998.
Throughout the 1990s, the Citroen ZX served as Citroen’s competitor in the class that was typically occupied by such European vehicles as the Ford Escort and the Volkswagen Golf – a market that Citroen had moved away from a decade prior when it discontinued its BX model. The BX had attempted to address both the large family and small family car markets by being a “between size” vehicle. The chassis of the Citroen ZX was also utilized on 1993’s Peugeot 306, which, with its catchy Pininfarina styling, was a lot more successful. The same platform was also utilized to build such vehicles as the Peugeot Partner and the Citroen Berlingo. Sales and production on the ZX came to a halt in the year 1998 when the Citroen Xsara arrived as a replacement vehicle.
A notchback derivative of the vehicle known as the Citroen Elysee was produced for the Chinese market for many years. It was used in China as a taxi cab mostly. It was manufactured by the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile joint venture.
