Over the years, the name Dodge Magnum has appeared on a number of different vehicles. Most recently, a Dodge Magnum was introduced in the form a rear wheel drive station wagon for the 2005 model year.

This version of the Dodge Magnum is the first Dodge vehicle to utilize the Chrysler LX platform. This platform is also used on the Dodge Charger and the Chrysler 300. Prior to this, the Dodge Magnum model name had been used between the years of 1978 and 1979 for a large coupe in the United States of America. In Brazil, the Magnum name was used on a version of the Dodge Dart between the years of 1979 and 1981. And in Mexico, the Dodge Magnum was a K car between the years of 1983 and 1990.

In the years 1978 and 1979, the Dodge Magnum in the United States of America and Canada was a rebadged version of the Chrysler Cordoba. The Magnum served as a replacement vehicle for the Charger SE. It appeared in two forms – as the GT and the XE. It was the last car that utilized the long running platform known as the Chrysler B. The car resembled a Charger in appearance.
