The Dodge Ram is a full size pickup truck vehicle from the Dodge brand of the DaimlerChrysler Corporation. The name Dodge Ram was first employed in the year 1981 on a D Series vehicle that had been redesigned. Although the truth is, the name originated on a hood ornament that had been used on Dodge trucks in the 1930s and 1940s.

Twice in its history, the Dodge Ram has been named Truck of the Year by Motor Trend Magazine. The second generation of the vehicle won the award in the year 1994, while the third generation of the vehicle won in the year 2003.

The Dodge Ram is built in Mexico and the United States of America.

The first generation of Dodge Ram trucks were introduced in the year 1981. They kept the previous model designations – “D” stood for rear wheel drive, while “W” designated four wheel drive. Like Ford, Dodge utilized the number 150 to designate a half ton truck. The number 250 was employed to designate a ¾ ton truck. 350 was used to designate one ton.

First generation Dodge Rams were essentially revised versions of the previous generation of Dodge D Series pickup trucks. These trucks had been known as the Adventurer.
