The Ford Ka is an urban vehicle manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. It is sold primarily in Europe, where it is manufactured in a factory in Valencia, Spain. A Latin American version of the vehicle is manufactured in Brazil.
The Ford Ka was first unveiled on the 11th of September 1996. It was presented as a small, affordable addition to Ford’s range, following upon the Ford Fiesta’s enlargement. The Ford Ka is built on the same platform as the MkIV Ford Fiesta, but features a drastically different exterior design. The Ford Ka was made in the same production facility as the outgoing Ford Fiesta model in the Valencia, Spain factory. The classic Fiesta is now manufactured in Cologne and Dagenham.
When the Ford Ka was initially unveiled to the public, it was the subject of a mixed reaction among the public and critics. Its New Edge design, the work of Jack Telnack, was considered too striking for some.
The car nevertheless has proven to be popular in certain quarters. In the year 2008, the Ford Ka is scheduled to be replaced by a model car that is being developed with Fiat utilizing the Fiat Panda platform. It will be made in Poland.
