The large family vehicle known as the Ford Mondeo is sold all over the world by the Ford Motor Company. The name Mondeo is derived from the Latin word for world – mundus. While it is classified in Europe as a large family vehicle, in the United States of America, it is considered to be a compact vehicle.
While a picture of the vehicle was unveiled at the end of 1992, the Ford Mondeo was officially launched in the year 1993. The Ford Mondeo is available in the form of a five door hatchback, a five door estate, and as a four door saloon. The Ford Mondeo is produced in the Belgian city of Genk.
The third generation model of the Ford Mondeo was launched in the year 2000. It is a lot bigger than the previous version of the Ford Mondeo. While Ford might have long abandoned its New Edge design style by the time the third generation was released, there were still some cues borrowed from the Focus Mk I. This gave the vehicle an overall effect that a lot of critics interpreted as being very restrained.
In the year 2006, the fourth generation Ford Mondeo was unveiled.
