Since the year 1996, the Japanese car manufacturer Honda has made a compact crossover SUV known as the Honda CR V. The Honda CR V was based loosely on the Honda Civic. The idea behind the vehicle was to satisfy a public demand for a Honda brand sports utility vehicle.
There are numerous explanations as to what the CR V of the car’s title stands for. In the United Kingdom, Honda sales literature continuously makes reference to “Compact Recreational Vehicle.” Other Honda references include the “Comfortable Runabout Vehicle.”
The Honda CR V is available with both front wheel drive and all wheel drive. In many markets, however, including the United Kingdom, only all wheel drive is offered, as there is not a great demand for front wheel drive vehicles.
Honda CR V cars are made in the United Kingdom and Japan for the international market. For Canada and the United States of America, Honda CR V cars are produced in the town of East Liberty, Ohio. For the Chinese market, the Honda CR V is produced by Dongfeng Honda Automobile Company. Beginning in the year 2007, North American CR Vs will also be produced in the Mexican town of Jalisco.
