The Hyundai vehicle known as the Hyundai Grandeur was first unveiled in the year 1986. The third generation version of the Hyundai Grandeur was sold in the United States of America and Canada as the Hyundai XG.

The vehicle’s fourth generation was sold in the same region as the Hyundai Azera. It was also sold under that name in Chile, Asia, and South Africa. The Grandeur nameplate is used all over the world. The Hyundai Azera was released in the year 2006.

Initially, the Hyundai Grandeur was a rebadged version of the Mitsubishi Debonair. It was launched with a 2.0 L SOHC MPI Configuration that had also been used in the first generation of the Sonata vehicle. In the year 1987, a 2.4 L SOHC MPI Configuration was added on. Three years later, a V6 3.0 L model was launched as a means of competing with the Daewoo Imperial vehicle.

The Hyundai Azera had the distinction of being named the Best New Family Car in the year 2006 at the Canadian Car of the Year Awards. It has been noted by editors at Car and Driver magazine that the Hyundai Azera comes with a bit more rear leg room than the BMW 7 Series vehicle.
