The Hyundai CCS stands for the Coupe Cabriolet Study. This is the work of the European branch of Hyundai’s Research and Development Center. It was made by the renowned convertible specialist Karmann.
The Hyundai CCS is based on the popular Hyundai Coupe 2 + 2. The Hyundai CCS has gotten high marks for its interesting three phase slide and fold roof. It enables the driver to switch to a glass roof at the touch of a button. In the event that the weather changes, the driver is able to retract the glass sliding roof back over the rear window. The side supports stay in place so that the roof can slide back in the event that the weather changes once again.
With the pressing of a second button, the Hyundai CCS can be transformed in to a full convertible. The roof is retracted in a way that provides for extra luggage space. The folding roof system on the vehicle is regarded as being a major improvement over past systems in that it requires fewer points of pivoting. With all electrical and hydraulic components included, the weight increase over the regular coupe is a mere 140 kilograms. Solar panels may be worked in to the design of the car in the future.
