The mid sized sedan known as the Hyundai Sonata is manufactured by South Korean auto stalwarts the Hyundai Motor Company. The car was first built in the year 1988. The Hyundai Sonata would receive face lifts in the years 1992, 1995, 1998, 2002, and 2006.
The original Hyundai Sonata, known as the Y1, was a major part of Hyundai’s expansion in to the United States of America and Canada upon the enormous success of the Hyundai Excel.
The Hyundai Sonata was initially introduced in to the South Korean market in the summer of 1987.
A few months later, the Hyundai Sonata was first offered to the Canadian market. It would take another two years for the Hyundai Sonata to make it to the United States of America.
The exterior of the Hyundai Sonata was designed by ItalDesign’s Giorgetto Giugiaro. In the year 1992, the Hyundai Sonata was redesigned. At this point, it would replace the Hyundai Stellar as the company’s big family car.
The Hyundai Sonata was built in South Korea, Canada, and in the United States of America at a Montgomery, Alabama factory.
In the year 1994, the second generation of the Hyundai Sonata, known as the Y2, appeared. It was presented as a 1995 model year vehicle.
