The Hyundai Tiburon, known in some places as the Hyundai Coupe, is a compact coupe vehicle that has been made by South Korean auto manufacturer Hyundai since the year 1996. The name Tiburon means “shark” in the Spanish language.

This name was given to the vehicle in the United States of America, Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, and Austria. Elsewhere, the vehicle is known as the Hyundai Coupe. (In South Korea, the vehicle has also been called the Hyundai Tuscani and the Hyundai Turbulence.)

The Hyundai Tiburon was first produced in the year 1996. It was first made available in select foreign markets with an Configuration of either 1.6 L or 1.8 L. In the United States of America, the Hyundai Tiburon was first made available in the year 1997. Base models came with the 1.8 L 130 hp Configuration. An upscale version of the Hyundai Tiburon, known as the FX, was offered with a 2.0 L Configuration.

The vehicle’s base weight came at about 2,550 pounds. This gave the Hyundai Tiburon a very high power to weight ratio.

Between the years of 1996 and 2001, all Hyundai Tiburon models were known as Hyundai RD Tiburon vehicles.
