The mid sized luxury / executive automobile known as the Jaguar S Type was first introduced in the year 2000 by the Ford Motor Company’s British luxury marque Jaguar. The S Type is a revival of an earlier model that was first produced in the early 1960s.
The Jaguar S Type is produced in Birmingham, England at the Castle Bromwich factory. The car was designed by Geoff Lawson. The styling of the car is based on the Ford DEW and Jaguar DEW platform, on which the Lincoln LS was also built. The classic mascot featuring the leaping jaguar bonnet does not feature on the Jaguar S Type when it is built for the home market, as it contravenes safety legislation in the United Kingdom concerning pedestrian impact. Many enthusiasts, however, add the Jaguar on anyway as a means of satisfying their desire to get the definitive Jaguar look.
In the year 2003, the Jaguar S Type R, a supercharged version of the car, was added to the line up. The R version of the vehicle features a supercharged V8 Configuration that produces 390 hp. It is capable of accelerating to sixty miles per hour in less than six seconds.
