The luxury saloon vehicle known as the Jaguar XJ8 has been sold under the Jaguar luxury marque now for several years. The Jaguar XJ was first unveiled in the late 1960s.
It has served as the Jaguar flagship model vehicle now for the vast majority of the car’s production span, which continues to the present day. The Jaguar XJ was famously the last Jaguar saloon vehicle to have received input from Jaguar founder, Sir William Lyons.
Jaguar was founded in the year 1922 as Swallow Sidecar Company. Since the year 1989, Jaguar has been owned by Ford. Alongside Volvo and Land Rover, Jaguar is a part of the Premier Automotive Group of Ford. Currently Jaguar is up for sale, alongside Land Rover. The main competitors of Jaguar are Porsche, Audi, BMW, Saab, Cadillac, Mercedes Benz, Acura, Maserati, and Lexus. In both the United States of America and the United Kingdom, Jaguar cars are often referred to as “Jags.” The company was privatized by the Thatcher government in the year 1984 and was floated as a separate company on the stock market. In the late ‘80s, the Ford Motor Company offered to purchase Jaguar, and the offer was accepted. At that point, Jaguar was removed from the London Stock Exchange listings.
