The Jaguar XKR GT3 is a race car created by Apex Motorsport. It was first entered in to the FIA GT3 European Championship. The Jaguar GT3 Series was only in its second year at that point in time, but it had already attained a ton of support from both sponsors and teams by the time the Jaguar XKR GT3 was released.
Six events took place in the years 2006 and 2007 that featured the vehicle, including a non championship opening event that supported the Australian Grand Prix race.
The Apex Motorsport team was run by Richard Lloyd alongside Dave Ward during this period. Both of them were joined by ex Apex team member Howden Haynes, who was in charge of the development and design work on the Jaguar XKR GT3.
Work on the Jaguar XKR GT3 took place at the Buckingham race shop. The first shakedown test took place in December of 2006. In early 2007, FIA tests on the vehicle took place. There were then major changes added to the vehicle’s rigid aluminum chassis. This included the addition of a roll cage. The vast majority of the Jaguar XKR GT3, however, did not require much additional work.
