Koenigsegg, the Swedish auto firm, is responsible for manufacturing the super car known as the Koenigsegg CCR. The car is made in the town of Angelholm, Sweden. The Koenigsegg CCR was first unveiled in the year 2004 at the Geneva Auto Show.
For a while, it held the record for the fastest production vehicle in the world.
The Koenigsegg CCR is loosely based on the Koenigsegg CC8S, but is a higher performing model vehicle. The prototype’s improved power Configuration was made possible thanks to the utilization of a Lysholm twin screw supercharger as well as a new titanium exhaust system. This effectively takes the power output to a maximum of 806 hp at 6,900 rpm.
The Koenigsegg CCR has the distinction of being the first production car to sport horsepower gauge. Since its inception, it has been joined in this department by Bugatti Veyron.
This supercharger, however, is not intended for use in production vehicles. According to Koenigsegg, the twin screw supercharger was lumbering and quite hard to install in the mid Configurationd package. The production model of the Koenigsegg CCR is equipped with dual centrifugal compressions that are manufactured instead by Rotrex. While the same amount of power is provided, the peak torque point is lower than in the racing version.
