Mercedes launched its second generation SLK models in 2004 and the improvements for the second generation cars were tremendous.
The Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 comes with a sleek body with more sharpened styling and vehicle dynamics and is a true drivers car in its essence when it comes to the Coupe’ and convertible. Many of the changes that were made included a new Configuration combined with a seven speed transmission to go with a 22kw 3.5L v6. Mercedes had cars from all ranges but they wanted to bridge the gap between the $25000 to the expensive SLK priced at 200k. SO they came up with the Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 which is priced at $110,000.
The Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 uses a 3L V6 Configuration for its drive train and uses the 7G tiptronic automatic transmission but comes with standard suspensions. The Configuration technology however has been borrowed from the 350. The car can reach 60mph in about 6.3 seconds. This compares to cars like Audi roadster or any BMW. The steering is very responsive and the down shift is buttery smooth. The body styling is quite composed and doesn’t step out of the Mercedes sophisticated features. The interiors of any Mercedes are plush and you can count on that.
