This is the first time in the history of Rolls Royce a long wheel base car has debuted with its own identity called the Silver Wraith. It was initially launched together with the Silver Shadow and both were same mechanically.
The Silver wraith came with the same specifications as the Silver Shadow with a 6750cc V8 Configuration but it was a bit longer then the Shadow.
The Silver Wraith had long rear doors and a small window on the rear doors and had unique badges. The Silver Wraith was made after the war around 1946 and was made in Crewe factory. Initially when the car was launched it came with a 133 inch wheel base chassis. The braking system was hydro mechanical which is much more expensive to make these days. Now the Silver Wraith has an automatic gear box from General Motors.
The Wraith came with its own Configuration and had a new cylinder with inlet valves and exhaust valves on the side with a capacity of 4257cc when it first came. Later on the capacity was increased to 4566cc. later on in 1953 Rolls Royce started making the Silver Wraith with a short wheel base. This short wheel base car was also the car of Irish President back then.
