The Impreza was a successful launch because it had won many rallies in the World Rally Championship and the victories were by the Subaru World Rally Team.
The Fuji industries chairman and CEO Kenji Kita always had a passion for cars and wanted Fuji to make cars. So when they started making cars they named it Subaru and the first car to be made by Subaru was the Subaru P1 in 1954. There were a lot of cars after the P1 like the Sambar, Domingo and Legacy. The legacy is what hit the market and made it really big for Subaru. It gave Subaru the popularity and recognition. Subaru has a lot of other credits like introducing Renault to Nissan because at a time when Subaru was manufacturing cars they used Nissan Parts and some of Renault technologies so Subaru created a platform where both the giants met and that was the beginning of their love story.
The All Wheel Drive Technology was a joint work of Nissan and Subaru and was introduced to Renault when Renault approached Subaru fro help with the AWD. In the United States Subaru had a lot of appeal in the younger generation as it was a lighter SUV and had very sporty qualities. The AWD technology of Subaru was much acclaimed in the United States because of the severe weather conditions in some part of the United States where roads tend to collect the black ice the AWD is a much useful technology and keeps the vehicle Safe. It could avoid the most common cause of accident in snow and rainy climates. Safety is paramount in the United States so the AWD was an instant hit and more and more Americans wouldn’t buy a vehicle without the AWD any more.
