If Toyota lacked recognition then the Toyota FJ Cruiser would have brought them the much longed recognition and vice versa for this model. The Toyota FJ Cruiser has been styled by Calty design research center in California owned by Toyota. They introduced the Toyota FJ Cruiser as a concept vehicle in the 2003 Detroit Auto Showa and the Toyota FJ Cruiser was to replace the FJ40 4x4 which was sold until 1984 and also serves as a collectible these days.

The Toyota FJ Cruiser has a retro style which is expected to appeal a lot of people and that is where Toyota expects to derive the success for this particular car. The New FJ is a lot of more character than just style. In the Toyota car segment the Land cruiser and the $runner became very expensive and there was a huge gap between affordable and expensive cars. Toyota decided to exploit this gap and filled it in with the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

The new Toyota FJ Cruiser is based on the 4Runner chassis but the FJ Cruiser is much shorter. It comes with a V6, 4.0L 239 horse power engine. This is the same engine from the 4Runner.
