The new coupe’ convertible form Volkswagen is called the Volkswagen EOS and it is derived from Greek Myth which means that EOS is a goddess of wind and dawn.
It is the descendant of the Volkswagen Cabrio which stopped production in the mid 90’s. The Volkswagen EOS was also a concept car prior to its launch and was displayed in the Geneva Motor Show in 2004.
The production of the EOS began in 2004 itself in Frankfurt and was launched in the United States in early 2006. The Volkswagen EOS is a convertible Golf Hatch back basically and not like the Cabrio. It also shares a lot of components and the platform with the Volkswagen Passat. The wheel base does look like the Jetta and the Golf.
The roof if the convertible is a five piece folding hard metal top. And also has a glass roof which is smartly integrated into the folding roof. Like all convertibles the roof can be handled with a single click button. There are 5 engine variations available with the Volkswagen EOS for the drive train. Most of them come with six speed manual gearbox and there is an automatic version available. There are turbo charged engine versions also.
