The first S40 was a nice small sedan which really brought Volvo into the fore. The current Second generation S40 is sportier and a very refined model and has great dynamics. The current generation of the Volvo S40 offers two engines, the 218 horsepower and the 168 horsepower.

The 218 horse power comes with a turbo charged engine with five cylinders known as the T5 in short/ the Volvo costs much less than its German counterparts and still offers refinement, comforts and sleek looks for that price. There are different trims the Volvo S40 is available in, luxury, sport, sedan and compact. The front wheel drive 2.4 I trim level comes with a2.4L five cylinder engine which gives 168 horse powers. People who wish to drive a sportier car in its feel should take the T5 which comes with a 2.5 L turbocharged engine.

There is an option of six speed transmission available and also automatic transmission. The standard features offered by the company are side air bags, auxiliary audio control system, premium leather for upholstery, a navigation system and stability control. The interiors of the Volvo S40 look very classy and expensive. The all wheel drive in this model is optional.
